MATERIAL-METHOD: Of 40 small cell lung cancer patients histopathologically diagnosed in our clinic between July 2002 and July 2003 19 cases demonstrated no metastatic sites radiologically and were considered as limited stage. These cases underwent bone marrow biopsy. RESULTS: None of them demonstrated bone marrow invasion. CONCLUSION: We concluded that bone marrow biopsy is not needed in staging of SCLC cases having normal LDH and complete blood count results, unless an academic survey recommends.Key words: bone marrow biopsy, small cell lung cancer, staging.
