Is body temperature indicative of a possible pregnancy?
Yes, because of the increased progesterone in a newly pregnant mom, your temp will be higher. How much higher varies widely! It could be a few 10ths of a degree or it could be a fulll 2-3 degrees or more. The only way to tell for sure is to keep track of your temp on an ongoing basis. It’s called the Basal Body Temperature method. Basically, you take your temp first thing in the morning starting on day 1 of your period. You take it each day and watch for a pattern. The patterns vary, but typically you would see a rise once ovulation has occurred (because of the progesterone). You may also see a slight dip the day before or day of ovulation. So it’s really something that’s useful for tracking your fertility over time. While having an elevated body temperature during the 2ww is a good sign, it’s just another possible symptom so it’s best if you take a test when your period is due! Good Luck!
