Is big bang theory disproves atheism?
The existence of god can’t be proven or disproven. Therefore, atheism can’t be proven or disproven – by the big bang theory or anything else. Scientific proof requires something called “falsifiability”. Basically, it means you have to be able to do some experiment which, if it turned out a certain way, would prove that your hypothesis is false. For example, the theory of gravity is falsifiable: if I let go of some object and it doesn’t go crashing to the ground, then that would prove that the theory of gravity is false. (Yes, there could be special circumstances, but let’s not quibble: you can see the point). Thus far, nobody has come up with an experiment that, if it turned out a certain way, would disprove the god hypothesis. Therefore, the god hypothesis is not scientific. This doesn’t mean that god exists, or that god doesn’t exist. It just means that the question can’t be settled with the scientific method.
