Is being self-disciplined one of the hardest things for a young pro surfer?
It is tough you know. Being 22 I’ve still got my whole life ahead. I want to be the best I can be but there is a time for play and a time for work. Have you got a weekly routine for partying and work? No real routine, it’s whatever I’m feeling at the time. I don’t really party that much outside of the contests. When the contests come around, I go to the finishing parties, which are always fun. Other than that I’ve probably gone out three times in the last two months. It’s a pretty big sacrifice but big sacrifices pay off sooner or later. How have you changed since you debuted on tour? You can’t expect to be going out partying 24/7 and expect to win a contest. It’s not gonna happen. I toned everything down a little bit but I’ve still been having fun. This year has changed because I’ve been relaxed. And even if I do go out, I keep it pretty limited. I won’t hang out until four in the morning and blow my back out. I’ll have a couple of drinks with friends. I’ve matured a bit. The first co
