Is being hypochondriac fake?

A hypochondriac is someone who thinks they have an illness, and the symptoms that go with that illness, when they are perfectly healthy. You can’t make yourself ill by thinking about it but you can fool yourself into feeling the symptoms you don’t really have. E.g if you think you feel dizzy all the time then when any normal feelings of dizziness (or anything close to dizziness) occur (e.g. by standing up too quickly) you start to believe you feel dizzy all the time. You can cure it through learning not to jump to any conclusions about the small aches and pains etc we all suffer from and learn to relax. Counselling would be a great help and I would recommend it. I don’t think you should ever take medication for hypochondria because you don’t have anything physically wrong with you. However the doctor may put you on antidepressants or something. Counselling is defiantely the way to go.
