Is being a socialist the same thing as being a player hater?
Following earlier comments – no, a Socialist is not a hater of riches, jealous of those who “have it”. A socialist is a hater of poverty. He wants people to get rich, so he can tax them to give money to the poor. And everybody knows you cannot get people or animals to work for you by beating them to death. So the Socialist doesn’t mind people getting fairly rich. Of course, he will tax them more than they want to be taxed – but nobody likes being taxed, so any taxes at all will be seen by some as iniquitous. But too many taxes are equally unproductive, as the Communists found out. So the Socialist loves the “players” as the farmer loves his cows – as a productive resource, to be managed for maximum return.
