Is being a janitor a degrading job?
Head custodians can make good $$. My dad used to know a guy who was the head custodian of a high school who made $40,000 per year. I don’t know what starting out janitors make but I’m sure the pay is pretty good because a lot of those jobs are 3rd shift. Since nobody wants to work the graveyard shift a typical janitor job may pay $12 per hour instead of minimum wage. You still have to consider the possibility that if you do that kind of work you won’t have much of a life because you’ll be asleep during the day and at work when everybody else is asleep. You must ask yourself is your social life worth sacrificing for the $$.
No. It’s not glamorous, but it definately isn’t degrading. It’s an honest job that has to be done. Many people have taken these positions because other place wouldn’t give them a chance, no matter what their qualifications. Some people do janitorial work as a second job. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do to feed your family. A degrading job (in my opinion) would be stripping or any number of illegal enterprises.
No it isn’t. Not just anyone could become a janitor. I believe you have to have a certain qualification. That’s only what the media presents to our society. They portray alot of negative things to us–like it’s ok to cheat, kill, lie, it’s a negative thing to have wrinkles and so on. Just think of it this way, somebody’s gotta do the dirty work right?
