Is being a driving instructor a satisfying job?
I was speaking to a long-established driving instructor last week who told me that in the last 20 years, the number of driving instructors had doubled and the number of learner drivers had halved. He also said that the advertised “£30k a year” had remained at that level for 10 years and that unless you were working over 40 hours a week (which would be both unsafe & unlikely in view of the above figures) then you would have no chance of getting anywhere near. So, if your personality is right, then yes it might be a fulfilling job (I think I’d like it) but it is unlikely to be financially rewarding.
