Is becoming a nurse then becoming a physician assistant a good path?
This sounds like a very good path Darren. I am 24 years old myself and am very happy to see someone young with goals. I have been an RN for 2 years now and really enjoy it. Physician’s Assistants are in great demand and the demand for them will be even greater under the changing health care landscape. The best part about doing this in steps is that you are never far from reaching another big goal. In most states an LPN/LVN makes a pretty respectable salary. If events unforeseen happened you could work there for a while. If not, it would be a quick jump into the RN program and wrapping that up. The 2 years you work as an RN will be very valuable to you. You will not only learn many things that you will use throughout your career, but will also have a chance to earn income to pay any student debt you may have. 29 is not too old. Try to see past these years and look at your future goals. Make a plan and see it through. You may have some hills to climb along the way, but these are definite
