Is Banner Advertising Effective?
On my last article I talked about traffic techniques in general. For this article I am going to drill down and get specific with each technique. In terms of banner advertising, a banner ad is basically a graphic which has your link embedded in it. This graphic is placed on a site that has traffic that is relevant to what you are advertising. At least that is the hope. The click through rates can be low and they normally break down as follows. The more relevant your ad is to the traffic on that site the higher the click through, which makes sense. What is also relevant to mention here is the actual placement of your banner ad on the advertising website. Ads on the right near the scroll bar have been known to produce higher click through rates. A banner placed below midway down the page gets more click through rates than on the top.
