I would say Avast is the best antivirus i have used till now. I have been using it for more than 2yrs now without any problem and plus it occupies less memory than Kaspersky or AVG. Even NOD32 is good but not free.

Avast is pretty good but not the best. If you’re talking about the best, I would say Kaspersky. Now for BullGuard, I heard it’s pretty good too, but I never tried it before. Trouble is, when you ask for opinions here, it’s hard to find the answers you’re looking for, and I think the reason being is because many people including on this question probably never tried BullGuard before, so their answers will be biased. I’m just as guilty as everyone. I tried Avast before but comparing to Kaspersky, Kaspersky is better.

Avast! is widely considered to be one of the best free anti-virus programs – you will be well protected with Avast!. However, as well as anti-virus software, you should get a firewall to replace the Windows default one (as it isn’t really powerful enough, and only checks traffic going one way).
