Is Australia a cheaper way of living then England?

Overall, Australia has a cheaper cost of living than England, but you will find that many things are more expensive. Cars are cheaper in Oz and they depreciate less quickly, so they’re all around better value. Petrol is cheaper here (the average is currently about $1.50 per litre) but it varies from place to place. Housing is generally cheaper here, but it’s difficult to to get an accurate comparison as our housing is completely different from that in England and is almost always what you would call a bungalow on its own block of land. Our wages are generally higher, particularly for minimum wage workers and our taxes are lower and you must take all of those things into account. Over many trips to the UK, my observation has been that the average person in Australia has a better standard of living than the average person in England. Our educational system doesn’t have the problems found in the UK ; we have a lower crime rate; it’s far less crowded and we have far fewer social problems.
