Is ATT DSL Modem Compatible with Airport?

I just got AT&T dsl with a wireless modem because my macbook is my only computer. I have leopard 10.5.6. My internet is working, because I can access it using the ethernet cable. I have set up the modem as a network on airport, and get a full signal on that network. Yet, I continue to get a message that I am unable to connect to the internet using that network. I can get on the internet on any number of neighborhood computers, so I know its not the airport card. I went through the troubleshooting process with at&t, and they had me reset my network name and WEP. I’m still unable to connect with a full signal. Is there something I’m missing?
