Is ASL considered a foreign language in all universities and colleges?

0

No. More and more colleges, universities, and even high schools are accepting ASL as a foreign language. Not all schools do, however. The debate has raged since the 1970s and centers on two things: One, is ASL a bona fide language?, and two, is ASL a language used by a unique culture. Deaf people and those in the field of deaf studies answer both of these questions with a resounding “yes.” Still, not everyone agrees.
