Is arthritic spondulitis (the spine) a disability,?
The criteria for disability benefit has changed a lot now and a diagnosis alone no longer qualifies you for automatic disability. They assess now and very thoroughly not to see how unwell you are but what you can do and they assess you on what you are capable of doing within the employment market. A friend of ours with self inflicted through smoking chronic obstructive airways disease is very very breathless and cannot walk very far and he was assessed for disability and the resulting decision was that he was still capable of sitting at a desk or driving a taxi or something similar and he went on to job seekers. Anyway with that diagnosis giving up being active both mentally and physically will be counter productive to your future. Keep going and keep working as long as you can.
I don’t know what the requirements are in the UK. I do have something else to offer you. I have seen where they others have had a good deal of releif just from releasing the muscles in their back. Here is what they did if you want to give it a try: Back: Place your left hand on your left knee. Place your right hand over your left shoulder and with your fingertips find the muscle next to your spine. Press on it and hold. Relax, take a deep breath and exhale and don’t tense up any part of your body. After about 30 seconds there should be a release happening and when it does slowly lower yourself forward onto your right leg. If you can lean over the outside edge of your leg it will be better for your release. Continue holding for a total of one minute. Then release but rest your body there for one minute longer. Then reverse and do the right side.
