It comes from a book called Zen in the Art of Writing, and it is supposed to be about the creative process, but that quote has a larger meaning, I think. It means that we should do justice to the opportunities presented to us. This is something Van Buren Township Supervisor Paul White has not done. One of the many baffling things about the controversy surrounding Gerry Champagne, the fired director of public safety, and its aftermath is that people keep going back to the election from last year, when White won the office. Those who are unhappy with the way things are going now are labeled malcontents, hoodlums, holdovers or obstructionists when—at least according to what I see—they are merely pointing out that there is a better way to do things.
