Is Armenian Orthodox Church a true church?
No, unfortunately it’s not.
The bible reveals the New Testament Church that Christ established. We can become part of the "body" by faith alone, where we receive salvation as a gift of God. Grace through faith, not works. We are given works after we’re saved. Works are the fruit of our salvation. Christ paid the price on the cross, so there is nothing we can do ourselves. We must plead for forgiveness and acknowledge what Jesus did for us. We need to be born again (spiritually). This happens when God forgives us, he cleanses us of our sins and we become a new creature in Christ. John 3:3: "…Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God"
Orthodox and Catholic churches all believe in works/sacraments/mass and other traditions, but they can never take away sins. Jesus died once and for all, to be the final sacrifice. Hebrews 10:11-12: "And every priest stands ministering daily and offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. But this Man, after He had offered ONE sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God"
I don’t agree with the previous answer as it only lists the works of men in the world and life long traditions of men passed down, which I’m afraid to say are not biblical at all. Catholicism is also a works based religion which is not the true church either.
The born again believers make up the true church, they are the "body" of Christ. It’s a heart transformation which is an act of God. Once we are forgiven, God changes us. The word of God allows us to test all things against it. We can compare all thigs to the bible to see if they match up. Many religions don’t match up. There is only one truth – you must be born again! God wants a relationship with us, not for us to be involved in organized religion set up by man. But we must go to Him directly and seek forgiveness and go through the name of Jesus as He is our mediator.
Acts 17:24-25: "God, who made the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands. Nor is He worshiped with men’s hands, as though He needed anything, since He gives to all life, breath, and all things"
Acts 7:49-50: " Heaven is My throne, And earth is My footstool. What house will you build for Me? says the Lord, Or what is the place of My rest? Has My hand not made all these things?"
God created the earth – how shameful for a human being to suggest God’s Kingdom exists in the world, such as an actual church building. His church is actually the people that are born again. They make up the church, not a building made by men and based on traditions of men.
I recommend reading the book of John (one of my favorites) as it will answer some of your questions!
God Bless.
-Yes, Armenian Orthodox Church is not a schismatic church as the KGB infiltrated church leaders claim it to be. Armenian Orthodox Church Canon of Saint Liturgy had been confirmed in Cesarea by Vatican when Saint Grigor Illuminator had been ordained as a Bishop of Armenia [from the lineage of Apostle Thaddeus)], according to Agatangegos, a historian of IV AD. Despite of political agent-priests allegations that Armenia is monophysit church (Christ was incomplete in His humanity ), in fact, Armenian Orthodox Church in every century had an orthodox Catholicos, who declared church as a part of the Universal Catholic Church[ up to Florence Council (1850) and by Catholicos Garegin II (1996). Armenians make a cross sign from left to right, as every Catholic, accept the Universal Catholic doctrine in whole, they offer the Liturgy in fixed old language Grabar, having a special permission for some specifics issued from the Supreme Pontiff (Pope of Rome). The Modern post-KGB priesthood innovates a
