Is Arabic a partcularly hard or easy language for a native English speaker to learn?
Arabic, for English speakers at least, is painfully difficult. Even under optimal circumstances (living in an Arabic-speaking country with little or no English communication) it would take a minimum of two years of nothing-but-study in order to gain a basic grasp of the language. In addition most programs designed to help teach Arabic (such as Rosetta Stone) give only a handful of phrases and vocabulary- hardly the proficiency they boast to be able to give.
