Is anyone else out there feeding their baby only with expressed breast milk?
Whaaaat? What kind of doctor would say that? A bad one! Ugh. In the very beginning, you overproduce breastmilk to match your baby’s demand. Since you’re exclusively pumping it will be easier to pump, but a lot of women notice a decrease in their ability to pump around the 3-4 month mark once supply is established. My advice would be to pump as much as possible to trick your body into thinking it needs more than your baby actually does at this point. You can freeze it for later. It will be easier to overproduce now than it will be later, and later you may find it hard to pump. Also, pumping is sort of a learned skill, so keep at it. But there are a lot of women I know who have been very successful doing this throughout the entire first year even without freezing any, it really all depends on the person and how easy it is for them to pump after that initial overproduction period.
