Is anyone a little apprehensive as we get near the anniversary of 9-11?

No, but I do get more apprehensive as we approach the 2008 presidential election. A terrorist attack on American soil would be a very “Convenient” excuse for the Bush administration to push the Iraq withdrawal dates back even further and push through loads of corrupt laws using scare tactics. Personally, I feel pretty damned “Apprehensive” about the fact that some of the same people who are supposed to be protecting us from terrorist attacks are also the people who have the most to gain from the events that would most likely occur directly after one. The date of 9/11 specifically, however, doesn’t scare me in the slightest. The main things I feel in connection with that date are grief and sorrow for all the innocent people who died that day, and anger at the people who killed them, and even greater anger at the people who have taken shameless advantage of the deaths of those innocent people to kill, torture, and subjugate the rights of yet more innocent people. Nope. Not only is there little reason to be afraid, but that’s what terrorists want us to feel. Terrorism isn’t only the act of destroying things. It’s striking fear into people so they can’t otherwise function normally. I’d say they’ve done a fine job of that already in the states. No reason to give them more fuel.
