One of the reasons for the seven fishes, is Italians, at least Old World ones do NOT eat meat on Christmas Eve, so we wouldn’t have the fish bacon wrapped, but that is YOUR preference and you CAN do that! That is something that was done long ago and it seems only those that follow the old world traditions, like my family are that strict about it. The other fishes you can do are: Baccala which is a salt cod Filet of sole or flounder, basically the same Stuffed clams Shrimp Cocktail or even Shrimp Scampi Clams on the half shell Fried Shrimp For the filets you can bread them and fry them in some oil, and serve them up with some fresh chopped parsley and lemon slices. Think of the fish that you and your family and friends like, and go with that. Not all Italian families do the total 7 fishes anymore, the reasons run anywhere from it gets too much to there’s picky eaters, to people have their favorites and only eat certain ones, so they only cook the ones that are going to be eaten.
