Is any toothpaste safe for use with dogs as long as it is flouride free?”
Human toothpaste foams too much and will usually make them sick to their stomachs since they swallow it and don’t spit it out. I’ve also heard that one of the ingredients can be toxic, but not sure about which one it is though. Although my dogs prefer the taste of a dog toothpaste like CET (which comes in nifty flavors like poultry and salmon!) the best I’ve found for keeping their teeth clean and white is homemade and all natural. It’s half a tablespoon of salt, a tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide, and a half a tablespoon of baking soda. I use a human toothbrush or wipe the dogs teeth with cheesecloth or gauze wrapped around a finger. Some of my rottie friends swear by Petzlife. I’ve not tried it, but it is a homeopathic dental product for cleaning teeth.
