Is any special wiring or switches required for the HID conversion?

No. The HID units require only 35w or 50W of power, versus 55w for the std Duckworks light. You will need to verify that the wire is capable of 100w if you decide on the 100w Halogen round light. Or, you could use your 55w bulbs in the round reflector, if you have smaller than 16 guage wire. Otherwise, the round lights connect to the same power and ground that you supplied for the original installation.
