Is and End to Gender-based Pay Discrimination in the U.S. in Sight?
This is from CNN: “A bill aimed at stamping out gender-based pay discrimination in the workplace cleared a procedural hurdle in the U.S. Senate Thursday,” Jan. 15, 2009. “The Senate voted 72-23 to limit debate on the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act. The bill has been passed by the House”and is expected to get through the Senate, and Obama has voiced support as well. “The bill would put in place a six-month statute of limitations for women to sue their employer over pay discrimination. The six months begin with the date of the last pay check….Named after Lilly Ledbetter, an Alabama employee with Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.
