Is an LED light better than an incandescent light?
LED lights have many benefits when compared to regular incandescent lighting. LED lights generate very little heat, so a much higher percentage of electrical power is going directly to generating light, which cuts down considerably on the electricity demand. It is estimated that using LED lights saves the consumer 80-90% in electricity over incandescent counterparts. The cooler LED’s also make for a safer way to decorate, reducing fire risk (although for safety reasons, you should always unplug lights when unsupervised). LED’s plastic casings are nearly unbreakable, and their injection-molded design makes them watertight and tamper-proof. The LED’s are also very long-lasting, expected life being conservatively estimated at 50,000 hours while a regular incandescent light bulb burns about 1,000-2,000 hours. LED’s cost more initially than regular incandescent lights, but they also last longer than incandescent lights and save a lot of electricity. Some people will still prefer the look of
