Is an interview with a candidate a compulsory step of the admissions process?

No. Interviews are not a necessarily a component of the PhD Admissions committee process for all applicants. However, interviews are sometimes organised if there is any need to clarify aspects of your application and/or profile, or if a faculty member requests one. We will contact you if you are selected for an interview. Please keep in mind that many of those who do not receive invitations to interview are admitted and many of those interviewed are denied admission. Thus, there is no need to be concerned if you are not selected for an interview. Admission may still be granted without one.
