Is an internship or practicum important?
The answer is partially “yes”, but mainly “no”. Yes, because prospective employers appreciate seeing initiative on the part of the student. They want to be assured that an applicant is enthusiastic about working in a Montessori environment. If students have the time, we recommend that they offer their services as a volunteer teacher to a local Montessori school(s) in the final component of their NAMC Montessori training program.
