Is an external framer and LIU required to use devices in the DS33X162 product family?
In most applications, an external T1/E1 or DS3/E3 framer and line interface unit will be needed to provide a multiframe synchronization signal. One exception is the case of a point-to-point connection over a single physical link using bit-stuffed HDLC. The DS33X162 family of devices is designed to seamlessly interface with Maxim’s line of single-chip transceivers and framers.
