Is an expiration date required on shell eggs?
No expiration date is required by either federal or state law for shell eggs; however, Florida law does require that any case or carton of eggs sold must have a date of pack printed on it. The date may be of any recognizable format such as Mar 10, 1998 or 3/10/98, or it may be in the three numeral code where 001 corresponds to January first and 365 ( or 366 ) to December 31st.
