Is an angiogram painful?
Angiograms have a very low rate of complications. You will be asked to sign a waiver acknowledging that you were advised of the possible complications which include triggering a heart attack but the likelihood of anything happening are extremely low, particularly in people who are in generally good health. You will feel a mild quick sting when they cut open the entry to the artery and you will have the urge to urinate for a few seconds when they inject the dye. You will also have a momentary sensation of warmth when the dye is injected. The worst part is having to lie flat on your back without moving with a clamp on your leg for several hours after the procedure. It can get a bit uncomfortable but it’s not at all painful.
