Is an amalgam filling beter or a composite ( tooth colored one )?
There is a lot of debate today on the mercury in the amalgam fillings causing toxicity but there isnt enough concrete evidence to believe that the levels in the fillings are sufficient to cause any toxicity. The composite fillings do have an advantage over amalgam in that they are adhesive so they bond to the tooth compared to amalgam being mechanically retained.
