Is American Sign Language (ASL) really a language?

ANS: Research has long proven that ASL is a language. ASL has its own syntax and grammatical rules. which are more similar to Spanish than English – and easier to learn. Almost every postsecondary program accepts ASL classes as an approved foreign language class, and many high schools throughout the country also offer ASL classes to meet foreign language requirements. The few postsecondary programs that refuse to accept ASL as a foreign language are run my administrators still living in the 18th century.
