…but isn’t that a rather subjective question? I think most people who live in the States would consider it the best place to live, as would a lot of the people in Ireland (where I come from) and Germany (where I live now). Every country (speaking mainly about the industrialised states now) has its good and bad aspects so I think saying that “my country is the best in the world” is a wee bit short-sighted. I asked a similar question when I was new to Askville and got quite a few knuckle raps. But after I’d made it quite clear that disrespect was not my intention the discussion got very interesting. It depends on what you want from life, I think. In the US there are (or perhaps were) unlimited possibilities to succeed in life, get an education, climb the ladder in the profession you want, to make it big. But it is harder now and attaining “the American Dream” has its drawbacks as well. Everything is bigger, better and more in the U.S. and you have a very high standard of living but you
