…but isn’t that a rather subjective question? I think most people who live in the States would consider it the best place to live, as would a lot of the people in Ireland (where I come from) and Germany (where I live now). Every country (speaking mainly about the industrialised states now) has its good and bad aspects so I think saying that “my country is the best in the world” is a wee bit short-sighted. I asked a similar question when I was new to Askville and got quite a few knuckle raps. But after I’d made it quite clear that disrespect was not my intention the discussion got very interesting. It depends on what you want from life, I think. In the US there are (or perhaps were) unlimited possibilities to succeed in life, get an education, climb the ladder in the profession you want, to make it big.
