Is Alonso’s new Renault the ugliest F1 car you’ve ever seen?
Look at the state of Fernando Alonso’s Renault, snapped during testing at Barcelona yesterday. What a mess. The R28 is sporting a hideous new “shark-fin” engine cover, which takes its design cues from Red Bull’s similar engine cover, not to mention several other aerodynamic parts that don’t exactly help the car’s good looks. With all such aero add-ons set to be banned from next season, it seems that car designers are trying anything they possibly can, and with spectacularly ugly results. More pics right this way… As grotesque as it is, the experimental Renault has so far been the quickest car of the day in Barcelona, so it isn’t all bad news for its pilot, Alonso.
