Is all EPOC software compatible with all EPOC machines?
Unfortunately not – but most EPOC software is compatible with most machines. Well written software should adapt itself for different screen sizes but this is not always possible, especially with smaller screens. In practice the release of machines with smaller screens, for example the Revo, has rapidly been followed by the release of upgraded freeware and shareware where needed. The one exception to the rule is Ericsson’s custom software for their MC 218. Ericsson have protected their investment in their custom applications, such as their WAP browser, by keying them to the MC 218 hardware. They will not work on any other EPOC device.
