The ALE specification is being extensively used by RFID middleware vendors and some hardware vendors. The ALE specification deals with filtering of tags, reporting of tags to systems using an XML spec and reader control. Although the ALE specification is standards based, it generally does not interface with any existing enterprise systems, therefore some sort of RFID middleware or edge application is required to actually deliver the tag reads to your enterprise applications.
