The body burns alcohol first for fuel when it is available and will stop burning fat. This does not stop weight loss; it postpones it. Since alcohol does not get stored as glycogen, a person will immediately get back into fat burning after the alcohol has been metabolized. Keep in mind that alcohol consumption may increase yeast-related symptoms in some people and interfere with weight loss.
