Is aikido a martial art?
Although Aikido is “defensive” or “non-aggressive” it is still a martial art as an ettiquette must be followed and when used in defence it can still be deadly! When Sensei’s from different arts first saw aikido in Japan they thought it was not a proper martial art as it looked like dancing. There were occasions when these senseis would challenge O’Sensei and almost everyone who did ended up training under O’Sensei as they realised the power that aikido can muster!
