Yes. Immediately after election a ward councillor is required to make and subscribe before the prescribed authority an oath or affirmation and if such councillor declines or otherwise refuses to make and subscribe such oath or affirmation as aforesaid shall be deemed to have vacated his office forthwith. If such councillor fails to make and subscribe an oath/affirmation after election and within three months of the date on which his term of office commences, his seat on the expiry of the said period shall be deemed to have become vacant.
