Is ACT Fluoride Rinse safe to use during pregnancy?
Actually, my dentist advised against using high fluoride rinses during pregnancy (or trying to concieve). The reasoning is, when you brush your teeth, you rinse and spit, therefor expelling most of the flouride (assuming you’re rinsing with water after brushing). With a flouride rinse, you’re leaving some residue of flouride in your mouth and some will be ingested. Only a tiny amount per day, no harm to you, but too much flouride may not be good for the developing fetus. Still, it’s one dentists opinion, based mostly on just ‘playing it safe’ as there really isn’t much research on flouride and pregnancy (as far as I know) I do know that too much ingested by infants/children can seriously damage thier teeth.
