Is Accelerated Reading required?
No, but participation is highly encouraged and incentive parties are offered for 25 ARP points each quarter. Some students will complain that AR books don’t cover what they are interested in, but there are hundreds of ARP books of all types, so they should be able to find good ones that will help them work on achieving points. The librarians are great at helping in this area. I will sometimes require an ARP test on an assigned novel in class as a grade in reading.
