Is abstention the result of fear of vote vulnerability?
We, in Súmate, deem it important to repeat the message that vote is secret and in doing so, we have always expected the people accredited by political parties to make technical reviews of the system (voting machines, fingerprint reading machines). There are public servants, beneficiaries of missions (welfare programs) and government contractors who receive sort of threats about the possibility of knowing their election choices. But there is no way for a voting machine to keep a record. Vote secrecy is secured and there is much confidence in this regard. People should have the information available to exercise their right to vote according to their conscience and with no fear whatsoever of coercion and intimidation in order to favor a specific political trend. Is there still a campaign to create such fear? We have had complaints in this regard. The campaign takes place inside ministries and government branches, where supervisors tell employees that they should vote their candidates. How
