Is absinthe legal now?
YES. It’s not entirely banned in America. It turns out that it’s thujone that is banned (that’s the component of grand wormwood that was said to cause hallucinations and such–in fact, if there were bad reactions to absinthe it was usually inferior absinthes colored with chemicals that caused these side effects.) Luckily, recent tests on “pre-ban” absinthe that somehow hasn’t been drunk before now has revealed that there wasn’t much thujone in absinthe 100 years ago after all.
