Is aborted fetus research an ethical issue?

After waiting over a month to receive his official title as president-elect, George W. Bush wasted no time pursuing controversial issues once in the White House. Only two weeks into his term he’s not only tackled funding for overseas abortions, but now wants to end progressive medical research done on aborted fetal tissue. George W. has declared opposition to federal funding for all medical research associated with induced abortions. Claiming the tissue is ethically tainted and that the process may very well encourage a rise in abortion, Bush wants to discontinue the allocation of taxpayer’s money to fetal cell research. However, the fact remains, women will still have abortions and the life of innocent fetuses will still be lost. So, rather than discarding such valuable tissue simply because it was produced through an “unethical” process, why not give those tiny lives a reason for existence and utilize their cells for a progressive method of research that has vast potential to improve
