Is a white gold ring for forever?

Definitely go with white gold. It is a better metal than sterling silver and less expensive and a more solid metal than platinum. All the Best!

Mine are white gold and I love them, but you might check out this link and make your decision.

White gold is just as durable as yellow-gold. With everyday wear, any piece of jewelry could wear down. So in 40 or 50 years you could possibly have to get your ring built-up again if the band has worn down alot. But this isn’t exclusive to white gold. Its just a natural thing that happens as you wear your jewelry and it would happen with any metal. The thing you do need to watch with white gold is the quality of it. You’ll hear from people telling you that they have to get their white gold “re-dipped” periodically because it will turn yellow … basically that means it isn’t the best quality white gold because good quality white gold won’t EVER need to be “re-dipped”.

White Gold can stay white for a long time – but it depends on how much chemicals and other foreign liquids the white gold is exposed to. You will find that most places will warn you about rhodium dipping your white gold so it stays white. White gold is not White it is yellow gold – rhodium plated.

If it’s been rhodium plated then the white gold underneath is off color and they are trying to hide that fact…. ..any store that tells you all white gold turns yellow or is yellow gold that has been dipped-RUN FROM as they are bullsh!tting you big time. You can avoid the problem althogether by 1) never buying plated white gold 2) buy yellow gold 3) buy platinum. Do not buy silver except for occasional jewelry…it will NOT hold up…platinum will.
