Is a walking escort safe?
Campus Police Assistants (CPAs) receive a basic orientation to Police Department Policies and Procedures. They know how to use the two-way radio and contact the police dispatcher in an emergency situation. Violent, stranger attacks on our campus virtually never happen. That should not lead community members to travel alone or to take undue risks with their personal safety. We believe that there is strength in numbers, and know that most assaults that occur on streets are perpetrated on individuals travelling alone. Criminals generally tend to stray away from groups of people.
