Is a topographic map and road map the same?
No, they are not the same. While both maps will show roads. But the road map is designed for someone travelling in a car. It shows roads, intersections and things of use to a traveller. Topographical maps show the elevation of every point through elevation lines. It is usually a much smaller scale then a road map and is most useful for hikers and people that work in the area outside.
