The purpose of the program is to stimulate local and regional philanthropy in the private sector to respond to and improve the delivery and quality of nursing care and develop solutions to the nursing shortage. A “supporting” foundation may apply if proposals are directed toward collaborative efforts with the local community to address the needs in the local nursing industry (see Question 4.). However, projects led by grantmaking community or private foundations are preferred.
