Is a student job different from an intership and how important are these experiences?
The average student who works part-time uses their hourly wage to help supplement college expenses. An intership is different from a part-time job because it refers to real world experience in a desired career field. In an internship, learning takes place while students gain practical and or professional work experience. Most interships are exploratory in nature and short term, but some may be more involved. They may be paid or unpaid and many are completed for academic credit. An internship can be 10-20 hours a week, lasting three to six months, or full-time during the summer. Getting an internship is an essential and worthwhile step towards investing in a student’s future.
