With solar heating, a much larger investment is required upfront. They can be costly to install and will likely require a professional. Solar heating is virtually free to operate, though. There is not recuring cost. It is also a good pick for the environment because it uses only the sun’s natural energy as a heat source. Gas heaters are a much less expensive initial investment and are easy to install, operate, and maintain. They do, however, require annual gas replacement/usage so there is a recurring cost. They also burn some, although a very small amount, of fossil fuels.

With a gas heater you could pay the gas company as muchas $300 a month to comfortably heat your pool. Also, solar is non-polluting, and it can COOL your pool during hot summer months, something NO gas heater can do!
